About Me

Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
My name is Clare I live in Nottinghamshire and work in education supporting students as my full time job but like to make cards, craft and plan as a hobby. I have recently taken up arigurumi crochet, the perfect autumn/winter hobby. I have also decided after a number of years off to pick up my guitar and learn to play again so due to metal strings and crochet hooks the ends of my fingers are slowly toughening up.

It's Coming.....

Long time since I've been around....

I thought I best make a start on Christmas. Made by layering silver Miri card, with embossed white card and some mistletoe papers & tags from Creat n Craft TV. I cut out a Robin shape from some lovely music print paper and inked his chest. I finished off colouring a couple of sticky back pearls to add red accents and grey for his eye (using graph-it pens).  Happy with the result.

Creative Bloggers Hop

I was asked by the lovely Carol if I'd like to join in with the Creative Bloggers Hop.  It's a continuous hop every Monday with a host of inspirational bloggers taking part every week.
So onto the questions.

1. What am I working on?

I have just finished and sent a 3D mini suitcase gift for a friend with friendship quote cards inside and am starting a smash*book tomorrow. The template is on a project cd by my good friend Hayley of Dreamees.

2.How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I'm not sure if I am that different, I like to try new things from time to time which is why I've been doing a few 3D things and why I'm starting the smash*book. My cards tend to be CAS but I love Berry's work which you'll see below so am adding some layers these days.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

Because I love crafting in most forms and like to share.

4. How does your writing/creative process work?

It varies but I usually have an idea of what I'm creating before I start. I've done cards for friends so sometimes I have a particular colour scheme to work too.

Now onto the 3 Wonderful Bloggers I picked to carry the baton next week.

Berry is one of my favourite bloggers. Berry makes cards with multi-layers, which I love to look at and I would love to be able to create cards like hers. She is a member of Saturated Canary's and A Creative Romance Design Teams and is the Owner of Divas by Design. She colours brilliantly in pencils.

 Ann Marie
Ann Marie is out in The States, and is a member of the Little Darlings and the Creative Romance Design Teams. I love her cards, she colours beautifully. She is also such a lovely person always willing to help at any time.

Unfortunately the 3rd blogger I picked was unable to take part so you just have the two lovely ladies above.

Please check them out, they're both fabulous :-)

So that's my contribution to the Creative Blog Hop and it's now down to these ladies next week!
Thanks for stopping by.

Congratulations Blue

This fabulous Saturated Canary image called "Marry Me"  was perfect for my friends wedding card as she has a red bob.

I used the papers from a Dreamees ready card as she loves pink and I loved this particular pattern.

I used 3d foam pads to lift the image slightly and folded the butterfly wings so they stood up from the card.

I did actually colour the roses fuschia pink but forgot to photo it again before I gave it to her...lol

I think she turned out ok.

I've used the same image for a couple of other cards all of which look different. One for my cousin Jane and one for my Brother (16th August) which is why I'm quite late posting this. Am happy with all versions. Hope they were too.

Berrylicious

Present for a friend. I love making these wee suitcases 😊. The template is on one of my project CDs from Dreamees.  They're all different and I try to make specific to the person who gets them.

This one was for my friend Berry in Chester. Apologies the photos aren't great but here goes.

Here was the start of the inside

Then the top

Inside I'd created a few friendship quote cards which I distressed to age them a little.

I also made a little card to go alongside the suitcase.

Berry was quite pleased going on her message yesterday when it arrived. So I'm happy too.

Smiley Miley Giraffe

Created this cutesy little chap for a friend who is due her baby in a few weeks. She told me the theme for the nursery was jungly/safari animals. So here he goes xx

I decided to make it approx. 6" square using a box frame.  I layered a piece of white card onto a really dark chocolate brown card for the base and then used another die to layer up three other "giraffe" shades in card from my stash.

I printed the giraffe onto card and die-cut him using one of my favourite dies. I printed him out again just so I could 3D his face.

I die cut using a la la land banner die in two of the coordinating cards and stuck them to the inside of the frame to give depth to the image. I stuck some of the hearts that were a bi-product of the die onto the image just for fun.

I've been doing a lot of colouring lately, which I love but it made a nice change to use printed images.

I love it, she loved it, hope you love it too.

Thanx Sis

Another little card for my friend but this time for her sister.

From back to front the background is a print from a crafters companion cd, as is the little hidden tag and envelope. There's also a heart doily layered in.

The image is a Saturated Canary called Secrets and I love it x it was coloured using Graph It pens for the skin in 4115 & 4145 and Spectrum Noir pens in PP2 & TB1for the clothing and bunting. I coloured it to represent the two sisters. The hair on the red head was Graph It 3125, 3170 & 3190 and the one with pigtails was Spectrum Noir EB1, EB2 & EB7. I fussy cut the image and stuck it using mini foam pads to give the card some dimension.

It's very girly but I love it.

Of all the walks

This CAS card was been made for a friend to give to her dad before he walks her down the aisle.

She'd seen a quote she liked so we tweaked it slightly.
I layered black card and some patterned toning blue papers. Then printed two footprints one for her and one for Dad and die cut a simple scallop circle around them. I think it looks really simple but effective.

and here's is the verse...

Dad loved it, I love it, hope you do too

Shopping Time with Jess

Purple in all tones are my fave colours so I decided to put together this CAS card for a Jess Challenge with the theme of your favourite colours.

I've used a mixture of spectrum noir and graph it pens. She does look like she has just come back off her holidays tho..lol x

I diecut after colouring her in and then added some lace ribbon and a couple of butterflies from my stash to finish her off.

Smudge as is normal is accompanying her to keep her safe. Hope you like her.

Cherry Blossom in Purple

This image is a My Bestie image "Cherry Blossom" designed by Sherri Baldy and a real cutie. She's available on Etsy just click here.

I have coloured her in a combination of Graph-it and Spectrum Noir pens. Her hair was coloured using Faber-Castell pencils.

I decided to create a twisted easel for a change and layered her up using papers from my stash some lace ribbon and a doily and added a flower for impact to the front and added more flowers and a simple die cut shape with a Happy Birthday sticker sentiment inside.

I do struggle with hair sometimes so quite pleased with the result. I was going to enter her into a My Besties Challenge but unfortunately had a few things come up and missed the deadline for the particular theme...lol

Hope you like her I think she's a sweetheart.

Long time no see! (Mothers Day)

Morning guys

Been missing for a wee while. I'm tied up a bit with work and Roller Derby at the mo and haven't done much crafting apart from attending a Dreamees workshop where I created this little beauty.

This is a combination of two cd's, the teacup is from Templates and More and the backing papers are from their new projects cd Pretty Projects Templates & More although there are loads of backing papers on the first cd so you could choose from that one.  This was the first project I'd done properly from the cd and really enjoyed making it. I've just been asked to make two by a friend, one for her Mum and her sister (I think) from the little one.... So been busy cutting out flowers for the last couple days...lol

If you've not bought from Dreamees before I suggest you go check them out online at www.Dreamees.org.uk, their customer service and delivery time is awesome and Hayley's designs are simple but fabulous.

Apart from projects like this she has rubber stamps, embellishments n all that jazz (and no I'm not on commission I just love their stuff)!!

Zombie Skater

This fabulous Saturated Canary image is called "Rollerskating Zombie" and she is absolutely my most favourite at the moment......

I've layered her using some pale lilac card and two Dreamees purple patterned papers printed from one of my CD's (sorry can't remember which one).

I've coloured her in a mixture of Spectrum Noir and Graph'It pens DG1 & DG2 for her flesh. LV1, LV2 & LV3 for her boots, skirt and top. I think and to be fair I can't remember I used 9100, 9102 & 9103 but I might've used 7109 & 7119 (oopsy).

Whatever I used "I love her" and I hope you all do too. She's actually being donated to my Roller Derby Team for their fund raising stall along with a number of other cards I've done so hope she helps raise the total.

First Valentine

I've actually completed a valentine card my first of the year and it's not red!!! Thought I'd have a change. :-)

The image is "Collecting Hearts" by Regan Kubecek an Australian artist and can be purchased through Sweet Pea Stamps. I think she's fabulous (Regan too...lol). Actually Regan does have some gorgeous digi stamps available on Sweet Pea go take a look.

I did this one really simply matting and layering a pale green linen card and silver card behind the image. I used Spellbinder Labels 29 to cut the image and silver card.

I coloured her using a mixture of Graph It and Spectrum Noir pens.

Skin "Graph It" 4115 & 4145
Dress and Wings 9100, 9102 9103
The Hearts 5280
The Grass is Spectrum Noir" DG1 & DG2
The Toadstools and Basket EB1 & EB2

I like her, hope you do too.

Anniversary

To be fair this card could be for any occasion you like, but in this case, it's for my mum & step-dad's 22nd Wedding Anniversary.

I've had the papers for a long time in my stash, they came from one of the magazine downloads (I must remember in future to write on the back of the paper, in pencil, where it's come from). So whichever magazine you were Thank You because I am really really happy with this card.

Their Anniversary is tomorrow but I don't have to worry about them seeing it because blogging and social media is really not my Mum's thing and Dad is far too busy plumbing and stuff to think about it.....lol x

My cards are becoming more layered these days thanks to the wonderful Dreamees ladies (Carol & Hayley) and Berry who have offered me loads of support and advice, all I've ever had to do is ask.

Hope you like and hope Mum & Dad do too.

New Baby

Lunchtime quickie. The papers were all courtesy of Dreamees and I've had them on my computer a while. The  gold crackle ribbon behind the cream flowers was also Dreamees the flowers were from the haberdashery stall in the Indoor Market Sutton in Ashfield for any locals wanting some.

I'd printed everything off already at home but took it to work to put together during my lunch break.... Take my mind off eating too much..lol x

I'd probably have distressed the edges a little if I'd been at home but I think Geoffrey the Giraffe looks ok as he is. Hope you like him too. He's accompanied by my good friend Smudge made by KerryBears (check Facebook)
