About Me

Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
My name is Clare I live in Nottinghamshire and work in education supporting students as my full time job but like to make cards, craft and plan as a hobby. I have recently taken up arigurumi crochet, the perfect autumn/winter hobby. I have also decided after a number of years off to pick up my guitar and learn to play again so due to metal strings and crochet hooks the ends of my fingers are slowly toughening up.

Poppy

On Friday 29th I attended a classes at Gemini Crafts with Carol. Here's the resulting card and how it was made:

To start with I cut all the pieces of card to size. and stamped three Fun Stamps - Simple Poppy images using memento cocoa.  I used a Hero Arts Script stamp and stamped this down the right hand side of the background card in crushed olive distress ink and then used the Poppy stamp again with fire brick distress ink down the other. I used a distressing tool and used mainly the crushed olive but as the poppy was still a bit damp, this blended to... :-)  I also distressed the piece of card that the main poppy image was on.

I coloured in the poppy in Spectum Noir CR8, 10 & 11 and DG2 & 4.

I layered eveything up wrapping the background piece in two toning ribbons and cut two flowers seperately and curled the petals before sticking them to the main card.  Carol showed me how to make a two toned treble bow to finish the card off.  The other half says it's posh". I would say classy!! Really enjoyed making this one and had a good afternoon with the ladies...

Evening

Hi folks

Have had an idle week in terms of card making I'm afraid, as been busy at work. Have two weeks off now though so plenty of time for crafting.

Attended a card making class today and got a few tips. Will blog the resulting card hopefully tomorrow.

Happy Crafting :-)

A Favourite

If you look back in my blogs you'll see I have done this young lady before. But she is one of my favourite images by Kenny K and she's called Troublemaker.  This time I decided to do her in greens and browns using Spectrum Noir (greens) and also some browns EB1, EB7.

I used Spellbinder Nestabilities 29 cut from white card which I printed the image on and layered it with some dark chocolate brown and marbled green card which I had in my Creative Memories file and also used the Nestabilities 29 for the tag cut in Creative Memories oatmeal with a gold "Happy Birthday" sticker added.

For the brads I coloured in some pearlised white Candi with my EB7 Spectrum Noir Pen.

I'm quite pleased with the result. It's amazing how different two cards can look that were made with the same image...

So what do you all think to this version?

Tilda with Mr Rooster

Friday was a snow day! So Clare got to have an extra day card making. I rang Carol at Gemini Crafts, Sutton in Ashfield to see if she had any spaces in her friday class and she said she could squeeze me in. So there I was a quick dive to the bank and off up Sutton and here's what I made:

and here's how:  After cutting all my pieces of card to size I distressed the edges of one in pumice stone and spun sugar (which I borrowed from Sue - Thanks Sue) and then stamped it with a chicken wire stamp in the same colours. That was then layered onto a piece of grey textured card which was in turn layered onto the base card. Some textured pink card was cut using Decorative Labels 4.

I then stamped Tilda onto some card, I did a bit of jiggery pokery shown by Carol so that part of the Rooster was actually outside the diecut shape as shown below.  I distressed the edge and stamped chicken wire again with the spun sugar and then coloured in the image using, from my Spectrum Noir Pastel and Pale Hues sets, PP1 & 2, FS1 & 3 and TN1 & 2. I borrowed a grey Promarker pen from Carol for Tilda's boots and for the grey in the rooster as my greys are cool greys and I needed a warm grey.

The Tilda image was added to the pink shape which was stuck using 3D foam pads onto the background card. I then added a pink treble bow after being shown how to make one by Carol and added a little pink heart button to bring in the colour and did a second stamp of Tilda's hair bow and used 3D pads to lift that from the image too.

All in all, a lovely class with lovely ladies and a few new techniques learned x

Fangtastic

I love this image by Saturated Canary it's called "My bite is worse than his bark".

I used some plain black paper for a background and then used a cutter to lace edge some rose printed paper to give more texture to my layering.

The little lady was coloured using Spectrum Noir FS1 only for her face and arms as I wanted the palest skin possible going for a classic pale vampire look and coloured her eyes GB2. The dress and hair were coloured with Spectrum Noir Red & Grey pens as below:

To embellish I used Creative Memories cutting tools to cut my oval layers after printing my sentiment. I also had some fabric flowers and hearts as below and used them to link the colours together.

I was pointed to a company called Dreamees run by Hayley an ex student of the school I work at and ordered these simple paper roses, shown below to complete my card. She also has rose blanks available for you to colour and make yourself along with a miriad of hand-drawn craft artwork made into CD's, stamps and accessories. Please check her out and tell her Clare at Camellia Cards sent you her way.

I'm really pleased with the end result and intend to enter into Black With 2's challenge Dominant Black with Red and White.

Troublemaker.....nah!!!

I spent a day chilling today and after initially struggling with the design of this card a little expertise help from Rebekah at Berrylicious was greatly appreciated.

The image is called Troublemaker and she's from Kenny Kiernan.  To colour her in I used Spectrum Noir Pens from the Pastel set which I bought from JGD Crafts, Sutton-in-Ashfield. The colours are really subtle but I hope, effective.

The background paper was a pale turquoise spotty patterned paper I had in my stock from when I worked for Creative Memories (scrapbooking). I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 29 for the pink layers and used a linen effect card which I also bought from Janet at JGD Crafts. I used a small round doily so that the image stood out clearly. On the corners of the pink rectangle I used Pink Candi from Craftwork Cards out of the Chocolate & Marshmallow pack shown in the close-up below.

For the embellies I used a number of fabric hearts that I had in stock which I believe have picked up the colors used throughout. Really quite happy with this.

I will be entering her into the Divas by Design Challenge "Put on Some Pink".

Rainbow Butterfly Baby

Here is my second Rainbow Butterfly baby. The image is "Butterfly Baby" by Krista at Saturated Canary.... and as per the previous Butterfly baby card any of these I sell I will be donating all profit to Joel - the complete package a charity assisting families who have Rainbow babies.

Please take the time to visit their site for more information.

The card is 6" square and I used a pink floral paper from a Forever Friends "Pink Parfait" A5 paper pack as the background paper. I then layered a beautiful rose print paper which I'm afraid I have no idea where it was from as it's been in my stock for some time. I then layered three lacey doilys on top of each other after I'd coloured in the flowers on one of them with PP2 from the Spectrum Noir range. The beautiful image herself was coloured using the Pastel set of Spectrum Noir pens and Faber Castell pencils to define the hair. I used Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 29 for the little tag and added a few pearlised pink hearts to finish her off.
I like her, hope you do too. I would like to sell her to help the ladies at Joel so if you're interested please get in touch.

Ice Cream & Pickles

I bought this image from Krista at Saturated Canary just because I liked it. I had a play with the colour Spectrum Noir pens I had at the time which I'd purchased from JGD Crafts, Sutton-in-Ashfield and this is what I came up with. I've actually done her in three different colors but can't put the other two on yet as they were commssions and will be given next week.

I have quite a simple style. Although I love embellished cards I don't yet have the confidence to create them..This one was matt and layered with a fab baby paper from Dovecraft designed by Daniella de Grood and some lilac card I had in stock. I used Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 29 to cut out and matt and layer the image and sentiment.  Hope you like her too x

I would just like to say a quick "Thank You" to Janet at Pink Gem Designs too for my lovely watermark, I finally figured out how to add it.... :-)

Japanese Tilda

The image is a Magnolia Stamp "Japanese Tilda". The "Japanese Tree of Luck" has been coloured in Spectrum Noir pens (pastels) and Tilda was coloured in Spectrum Noir pens (pastels and reds). The card is matt and layered with Japanese Origami paper (green floral) and Creative Memories card (green). I coloured her hair in a light grey pen and then used a Faber-Castell black pencil (no.199).

I made this card as a Mother's Day Card for my Mother-in-Law and she thought she was lovely x I'm glad because I thought so too...

Butterfly Baby

This little sweetheart is a Saturated Canary Image called "Butterfly Baby" and has been created as a Congratulations on the birth of Your Baby Boy. My intention is to make a number of these little darlings, boys/girls and in various styles but all with Rainbow Wings.

The reason for this is that I plan to donate any profit I make from these cards to Joel - the Complete Package a charity raising money for families with Rainbow Babies. A Rainbow baby is a baby born after a loss. Joel aim to support those who have experienced the tragedy of a stillbirth and neonatal death who have now been blessed with a Rainbow!

Any amount is gratefully received by Lisa and Emma and enables them to run playgroups and support goups for these families. Please support them if you feel able

Wonderful Day

Love this card, so cute... The card has been created using a pack I had from Carol at Gemini Crafts, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Thank you Carol I love the idea and will use it for future cards.

The image is Penny Black - Have a Wonderful Day. The scalloped circles I believe were Spellbinder Grand Caliber dies as were the plain circles. The large flower shape and lilac flowers (Woodware). I used two puffy yellow flowers from my stock to sit in the large flower and distressed the edges using my Spectrum Noir pens.

I used Spectrum Noir pens from the pastel and red sets and also a fineliner from Creative Memories.

So as the card says "Have a Wonderful Day" (weather permitting)

Birdhouses - Present Boxes

I really liked doing these, they're not huge. The little one just about fits a Yankee Candle (votive size), the other one would be ideal for a nice bag of sweets or smelly bath salts/soap etc.  The roof is on a hinge with the small one and is totally removeable on the larger one.  They were both made with card I've had in stock for a little while and some embellishments I had from a friend (thanks Sam).

I love the cherry blossom one, I wish I had a room it would go with, maybe I need to redecorate.... :-)

This will be my second entry into the Divas By Design challenge "Anything Goes".

Ellie

Here's Ellie actually it's Mo Manning's "Walker" coloured in Spectrum Noir "pastel" but as per my previous post I've named her so that I can identify the different cards, she's named after my kid sister. Mo creates some lovely images this is just one of them. This time I've layered her using a lilac check paper from my stash and some Creative Memories lilac card.

I've created her as a Congratulations on your baby girl card. Whilst I know she isn't exactly a baby I think she is just so cute it's OK anyway.... :-)

I embellished using some mulberry flowers and gem flowers I had in stock and a lovely little satin butterfly.

I intend to enter her into Totally Gorjuss's weekly challenge...Anything goes with Pink. :-)

Macey

Hello everyone, I have used this digi stamp by Mo Manning called "Walker" a couple of times so I have named each card so that they can be identified. This one I've named Macey after a friend's daughter. I love how simple it is. I coloured the image using Spectrum Noir pens from the "pastel" set. The card itself I made with a pastel green textured card which has a linen texture. I have then layered using a leafy green sheet from a pack of Forever Friends papers. The pack was called Pink Parfait...

The ovals I cut using some Creative Memories cutting systems that I've had for many years going back to when I was a consultant for the company before they ceased trading in the UK. The image oval I lifted using 3D foam so that it stands slightly proud of the card. All in all I'm really please with the result.

Springtime

Well folks the weekend has begun (it's Friday evening) and I've just completed my first ever card made using an image by Krista Smith of Saturated Canary (who has some beautiful images) and Spectrum Noir pens (the pastel set only) and some card and paper stock I've had for some time.

I learned about easel cards (amongst other things) last weekend through a class at Gemini Crafts in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts which I must say I thoroughly enjoyed and am really pleased with the resulting card I've made today.

I intend to enter this particular card into Divas by Design's Weekly Challenge "Anything Goes" and Totally Gorjuss' challenge Happy and also My Mum's Craft Shop's challenge "Spring Has Sprung"

Thanks for calling by.
